Eye Drop Recall
If you have been harmed by the recent eye drop recall, our skilled personal injury attorneys at The Ruth Law Team are here to help

Throughout January and February 2023, numerous eye drop brands were recalled due to their association with a drug-resistant bacteria strain causing severe health complications, including three fatalities. Here’s what you need to know about these recalls to determine if you have been impacted.
EzriCare Recall
EzriCare artificial tear drops have been connected to severe bacterial infections, resulting in vision damage and, in some cases, death. The CDC identified the contaminant as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a dangerous bacteria found in the eye drops. Aru Pharma Inc. formulated the product, which was manufactured in India by Global Pharma Healthcare PVT LTD, a company now on the FDA’s “red list” for non-compliance with manufacturing requirements.
Victims of these contaminated eye drops have suffered serious corneal and intraocular fluid infections, leading to permanent vision loss or impairment. Some have also experienced urinary and respiratory tract infections, with at least one death resulting from sepsis caused by the infection.
Purely Soothing Recall
Pharmedica USA LLC, based in Phoenix, Arizona, has recalled two lots of their 15% MSM Drops under the brand Purely Soothing due to a lack of sterility assurance. Using contaminated eye drops may increase the risk of infections and, ultimately, blindness.
Though no related illnesses or complications have been reported to date, Pharmedica USA LLC urges customers to stop using the eye drops and return them to the point of purchase. Purely Soothing LLC distributed the product worldwide through various channels, including Amazon Marketplace and trade shows. The eye drops are packaged in white HDPE bottles with dropper caps and lids. Check the labels to identify the recalled product.
Artificial Eye Ointment
Global Pharma Healthcare has voluntarily recalled Batch No. H29 of Artificial Eye Ointment due to potential microbial contamination. Delsam Pharma distributed the product at the consumer level. Some packaging may also be compromised, leading to leakage.
The product is contained in a white aluminum tube packaged in a paper carton and was distributed throughout the United States and sold by Delsam via e-commerce.
What Should You Do if You Have Been Harmed by These Eye Drop Recalls?
Compensation in product liability lawsuits depends on the severity and type of injuries sustained. If you have suffered significant injuries due to an infection caused by any of these eye drops, you may be entitled to financial compensation. We strongly encourage you to speak with an experienced attorney to determine if you have a case.
