Stryker Orthopaedic has issued a hazard alert for a number of modular hip implants that could cause unexpected side effects.
What Is The Problem With The Hip Implants?
A specific range of LFIT Anatomic CoCR V40 femoral heads manufactured before 2011 may experience taper lock failures, which is the piece that connects the femoral head to the femoral neck. These implants are used in total hip replacement procedures.
As a result of the taper lock failures, patients may experience the following:
- Unexpected pain
- Inflammation
- Dislocation
- Loss of mobility
- Broken bones
- Unexpected revision surgery
- Damage to local tissue
