New Year’s Eve: (Safely) Find Your Way Around Tampa Bay

As you probably know, this one of the busiest times of year for travel.  Don’t risk hurting yourself or somebody else by driving while tired or after drinking alcohol.  We have compiled a list of ways you and your loved ones around Tampa Bay can safely arrive to your destination tonight.

Free Tow to Go Service

Budweiser and AAA have teamed up to provide its Tow to Go service again this year.  The service offer a free and confidential ride to both members and non-members who do not have a designated driver.  Additionally, the AAA tow truck will transport your vehicle and its driver home safely within 10 miles.  The service is provided not only in Florida, but also in GA, IA, MI, ND, NE, TN, WI and IN.  In 2019, Tow To Go was also offered on various other holidays like Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, and the 4th of July.  For more information, contact AAA at 855-286-9246.

Free HART Buses and TECO Streetcar

At 7pm 12/31/19, Hillsborough area Regional Transit Authority (HART) will offer free bus rides on all of its fixed routes throughout Tampa. The buses will run until midnight.  Additionally, the TECO Streetcar will extend service hours until 2am.  The Streetcar is always free to ride.

Uber and Lyft

Ridershare services are one of the most popular options, but they can be more expensive during busy hours.  If you are a first time Uber rider, click here for $5 off your ride. If you are calling an Uber to or from Curits Hixon Park, use the code SAFERIDETPA for $10 off your trip between 9pm and 12:30am.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are some of the most dangerous times to be on the road.  Over the past 35+ years, we have represented thousands of people hurt by careless and drunk drivers. We urge you to utilize these services available to you.  Please do your part to keep not only yourself safe, but also those who are sharing the roads with you.
