What is the Problem With the Implanon Birth Control Device?
Some women are reporting device migration in which the implant becomes completely irretrievable, causing side effects such as ectopic pregnancy and vascular damage. Ongoing lawsuits allege the manufacturers failed to warn women the devices could potentially migrate to other parts of the body. Additionally, like other non-oral hormonal contraceptives, Implanon may increase the risk for blood clots as much as 40%. These clots can form in the legs, permanently damaging blood vessels and surrounding tissue.
