DUI Hit and Run Takes Lives of Two Pedestrians in St Petersburg

On January 26th, 2013 at 6:28 in the early evening, a pickup truck careened into two people out for a leisurely stroll along the normally quiet walkway of Coffee Pot Boulevard in northeast St Petersburg. Gloria Mastell, 67, was thrown into the waters of Coffee Pot Bayou by the impact and died at the scene. The driver of the 2006 Ford F250 , who was later identified as Timothy Michael Deacon, fled the scene of the accident and was later arrested by St Petersburg police at his home. Also injured was 71-year-old Roger Wurr who was hospitalized and died on February 6th, as a result of those injuries. Deacon has been charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter, DUI serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene of a crash involving death.
