We are not currently accepting new Xarelto claims.
Dangerous side effects caused by the blood thinner Xarelto have been widely reported. Xarelto (rivoraxoben) is manufactured by Bayer and marketed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Approved in 2011, it’s prescribed to patients with atrial fibrillation to decrease strokes by preventing blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolisms. Xarelto is marketed as an alternative to the traditional blood thinner, warfarin, as an easy to use pill taken once or twice per day.
- Xarelto, does NOT have an antidote to reverse adverse side effects.
If a person taking a traditional blood thinner such as warfarin starts to bleed internally, they can be given Vitamin K as a clotting agent. No such treatment exists if a person is taking Xarelto. This can result in a person continuing to bleed internally to the point of serious injury or death.
Additionally, it has been determined that the Xarelto is effective for only 15-16 hours per dose. Therefore:
- The patient is left without clotting protection for the last 8 hours of each 24 hour cycle, thus increasing the risk of a blood clot due to A-fib during that time period.
Side Effects of Xarelto
- Brain Hemorrhage
- Abnormal Liver Function
- Severe anemia requiring transfusion
- Hemorrhagic Stroke
- Abdominal Bleeding
- Reduced Platelet Levels
