In December, 2011, a recall of a product used in the implantation of pacemakers brought to the public’s attention the risk of the product St. Jude’s Riata or Riata ST leads. These leads are the small wires that connect a defibrillator or pacemaker to the heart.
Due to problems associated with these leads, the wiring may become exposed inside the body, leading to:
- painful and unnecessary shocks
- the failure to deliver a life-saving shock when needed
- additional surgery to remove or replace the faulty leads
If you or a loved one has experienced problems with your pacemaker or defibrillator that may be associated with faulty leads, please call the product liability lawyers of the Ruth Law Team at (888) 783-8378 for a free consultation.
