The Ruth Law Team is proud to join River’s Renegades in the fight against cystic fibrosis!
On April 8, 2017, our firm will be joining River’s Renegades as part of the Great Strides event for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event, drawing more than 125,000 people across the country. The Foundation’s mission is “to cure cystic fibrosis and raise awareness for this rare, genetic, life-shortening disease that makes it difficult to breathe.” The 5k event will be held at 8am at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve in St. Pete.
About River Kaehi Lechuga
River Kaehi Lechuga, age 11, and his family are good friends of The Ruth Law Team. River has been fighting cystic fibrosis since he was born and has dealt with several misdiagnoses. After seeing multiple doctors who were unable to provide answers, a physician in Texas was finally able to provide a diagnosis when River was just three months old. Now, after spending extensive periods of time in the hospital, undergoing brain surgery, experiencing GI issues, and trying numerous treatments, we are happy to report River is doing much better 11 years later. River is now a 5th grader at the top of his class, earning excellent grades and reading at a 7th-grade level. River’s incredible story has inspired us to join the River’s Renegades team at the Great Strides 5k event.
About Cystic Fibrosis and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Unfortunately, River and many others still deal with the devastating effects of CF. Approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the US live with cystic fibrosis, a chronic disease affecting the lungs and digestive system. CF causes the body to produce a thick mucus that obstructions the pancreas and clogs the lungs, leading to life-threatening lung infections and an inability to properly absorb food. According to its website, the CF Foundation provides innovative research and drug development while promoting high-quality, individualized care and helping people with CF live better todays.
