The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced a DUI Saturation Patrol that will take place this weekend. The operation will be conducted in conjunction with the Flight Unit, DUI Unit and Traffic Enforcement.

When and Where is the DUI Saturation Patrol?

The Saturation Patrol will take place between Friday, August 3rd (today) starting at 6 P.M. and will continue until 4 A.M. tomorrow, August 4th. Deputies will be monitoring traffic throughout Pinellas County, mainly on highly-traveled roadways.

Why Do Police Conduct Saturation Patrols?

The Sheriff’s Office states the Saturation Patrols are an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths. Additionally, the Office states the goals are to “educate and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.”

In addition to Uber and Lyft, there are multiple ride options to take around Tampa Bay, including Free Beach Ride, which offers free rides along the beach area from Pass-A-Grille to Clearwater Beach. Additionally, The Nickel Ride launches today in St. Pete! Both Free Beach Ride and The Nickel Ride provide rides at no cost and accept tips.

The Saturation Patrols are conducted in addition to the quarterly DUI Wolfpacks. Full details can be found on the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office website.
